Dr. Rufus A. Sparks

Dr. Rufus A. Sparks, a lifelong area resident, attended Warren Public Schools for 12 years, graduating from Warren G. Harding High Schools in 1961.

He Combined his fascination with animals and his interest in medicine (from his M.D. father) into a career in veterinary medicine. Graduation from the Ohio State University came in 1968 with a degree in Animal Science from the College of Agriculture and a DVM from the College of Veterinary Medicine.

Kathleen Mack, a Vienna High School graduate, became his bride in 1967. They have three children and seven grandchildren. "Kathy" is a retired speech pathologist from the Warren City Board of Education.

The Sparks family is the proud companion of their cat Baby (10 years old).

Dr. Sparks' veterinary interests include pet behavior and internal medicine.

In addition to being the president of the Trumbull County Veterinary Medical Association, Dr. Sparks is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Association, and American Animal Hospital Association.

Outside Interests are the outdoors, including gardening, fishing, canoeing, camping, and bird-watching.

Dr. Charles T. Moxley

Dr. Moxley was raised on a large farm in southeastern Ohio. He attended the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1987. While attending Ohio State he was a member of the varsity wrestling team. Dr. Moxley also Competed in the 1980 Olympic trials.

Dr. Moxley has been associated with Town and Country Veterinary Hospital since 1991, and has been a partner and part owner since 1998.

Previous Work experience includes four years with a veterinary practice in Youngstown and several veterinary emergency clinics in the greater Cleveland area.

Dr. Moxley's interests include fly-fishing and college football. He and his wife, Cheri, have a son, Tyler, and a daughter, Jordan.

His professional interests include orthopedic and ophthalmic surgery.

Dr. Florence M. Rutledge

Dr. Rutledge grew up in Lakewood, Ohio. She has been practicing small animal medicine and surgery since graduating from the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in June 1967. She has been associated with Town and Country Veterinary Hospital since February of 1989.

Previous practice experience includes five years working at a large eight veterinarian practice in Birmingham, Michigan; six years working at two smaller practices in Midland, Michigan; nine years working as a practice owner in Auburn, Michigan; and one year working in Niles, Ohio.

While living in Midland, Michigan, Florence lived on a farm where she raised sheep, kept chickens, a few steers, raised a few pigs, had two horses, two dobermans, four indoor and outdoor cats, and up to 27 exotic birds. She was active in the local county fair and donated her time and a horse for a handicapped riding program. She was also active in the Boy Scouts of America Veterinary Medicine Explorer Troop.

Florence Rutledge is currently a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Association, and the Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the Trumbull County Veterinary Association. She is a past co-vice president of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.

Dr. Sam Costello

Dr. Sam Costello Grew up in the Youngstown area and was a 1984 graduate of Ursuline High School. He attended Youngstown State University and graduated with a B. S. in biology in 1988. He then attended Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine from 1988 to 1992. He has received the Distinguished Veterinarian Service Award in 2006, and the national Bustad Award in 2007. He and his dog Bear are a member of Delta Society Partner Program, and K-9's for Compassion.

He has a special interest in cardiology, ultrasonography, and wildlife rehabilitation.

His personal interests include gardening, running, hiking, birding, photography, and SCUBA diving.

He lives with his wife, Katie, daughter Anastiya, 8 dogs and 7 cats in Hubbard, Ohio.

Dr. Mike Sabihi

Dr. Mike Sabihi was raised in the Southern part of Iran in a city called Shiraz. He attended a college of veterinary medicine in Iran and later continued his education in the states at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine.

He has been employed by the Ohio Department of Agriculture as a Public Health Veterinarian in Supervisory Position for Northeast Ohio since 1981 and has been associated with Town and Country Veterinary Hospital since 2003.

Mike Sabihi is married with four children, two of which are attending college at Ohio State and Kent State University in Ohio.

His interests include Coaching and playing soccer, volleyball, and computer work.

Dr. Wendy Jenkins

Dr. Wendy Jenkins grew up in Marietta, Ohio and attended Ohio University for her Pre-Veterinary Medicine degree. She then attended the Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 2002.

Since her graduation she has worked for several veterinary practices in northeastern Ohio until joining Town and Country in September, 2008.

She enjoys fishing, camping, and gardening.

Dr. Charlene Arendas

Dr. Arendas came to Town and Country from her hometown of Lowellville, Ohio (near Poland and Struthers). She graduated from Lowellville High School in 2000. She received her B. S. in Biology from YSU in 2004, and her DVM from The Ohio State University in 2008.

She spent her first year in practice at Rainbow Veterinary Hospital in Darlington, PA, where she saw large, small, and exotic patients as appointments and on house calls.

She and her family have been raising llamas since 1995 and their current herd includes 54 llamas and alpacas. She is a past 4-H member and has been an advisor for the Llucky Llamas 4-H Club since 2002. Her other pets include 7 American Eskimo Spitz dogs, an iguana, cats, chickens, and peacocks, as well as an Arabian horse.

In her spare time she plays the trumpet in the Lowellville Mount Carmel Band, enjoys outdoor activities, and art/history.

Dr. Michele Susey
Dr. Michele Susey grew up in Dover, Ohio and graduated from The Ohio State University in 1995. She now lives in Warren Ohio with her 3 dogs and 2 cats.
Dr. Brenda Motsco

Dr. Brenda Motsco graduated from the Ohio State university in 2007. She finds joy in working for the veterinary hospital, and is always ready to see your rabbits, ferrets, and other furry pets.

In her free time, she enjoys yoga, training for running events, and her Harley-Davidson.

Julie Banicki: Office Manager

Looking for a career change Julie gave up 15 plus years of management in the hospitality industry and explored her love for animals at Town and Country Veterinary Hospital. She applied for a part time receptionist position in 1991. Her performance eventually led to her becoming Town and Country's office manager. She loves gardening, NFL football, baking, and spending time with her family. She has a dog named Benny, a rescue from Town and Country.
Technicians

In order to increase our efficiency and decrease waiting times, we are utilizing the skills of our animal health technicians. The people are licensed and certified by the state of Ohio to perform various tasks under the supervision of a veterinarian. Their educational requirements are strict to assure their competence. Annual continuing educational courses are required to broaden and update their knowledge and to maintain their license. During peak activity months, our technicians may assist you in routine vaccinations, fecal exams, heart worm diagnostic and prevention procedures, behavior counseling, and follow up medical care.

We feature a staff of 6 registered technicians and 8 tech assistants.
